I’m moving to Toronto. What clothes are necessary?

I live in Vancouver, and never bothered with snow boots and the like. I love dressing up and am not a ski jacket type of girl.
I hear Toronto is extremely cold and always snowing. What kinds of clothes are necessary in a woman’s closet? On TV you see women in stilettos and gorgeous wool coats walking around NYC in around Christmas. Is the weather similar? Is that even realistic?
Help! I’m totally lost!

Okaay so this is basic toronto weather

november – march – COLDDDDD SNOW HAIL ICE you need a heavy coat, good boats( forget those stillettos) mitts hat etc.
April – May – cool-warm, light jacket.
June – August- HOOOTTTTT like sometimes it hits 40 degrees.
September and october- basically the same as april and may.

Basically for winter you will need a heavy winter coat and boots
Dont be afraid, you will get used to it.
